Activities

At Little Friends all children are encouraged to take part in the extra activities we offer including:

High Scope

The high scope approach to learning encourages all children to be independent decision makers who are confident and possess high self esteem. Throughout the day the routine provides times for the children to make their own plans, enabling them to solve problems and make choices that affect their play.

TinyTalk

This enables our youngest children to develop early communication skills, which can ease frustrations and enable them to communicate with their carers.

Stretch and Grow

The Stretch and Grow play sessions are available for all our Learning Centre children. This gives each child the opportunity to develop their physical skills

Heuristic Play

Heuristic play is fun play with everyday objects which can be found around the house. These are used to symbolize other objects e.g. the cardboard tube becomes a telescope.

First French

This a French class available to our children from the age of 3 and a half years. It develops each child’s language skills by teaching them the basic words in French.

Block Play

Block play is a valuable activity that we use throughout the nursery to support our curriculum. The children are able to: learn through their senses; act on their environment; and bring their own ideas to life. Block play empowers children to do things on their own finding success at being an expert in an activity which has no set right or wrong outcome to achieve. The sense of achievement in building a tower, or pirate ship goes a long way to developing a child’s personal self esteem.
